Warmer weather means more opportunities to venture outdoors, more sunshine on gardens, and the perfect harvest time for some of the most delicious produce here in Hilton Head. If you’re looking for fresh Lowcountry produce for your upcoming summer cookouts and dessert recipes, you’re in the right place. From open-air markets to pick-it-yourself farms, there are plenty of places to find the freshest fruits and veggies right here on Hilton Head Island.

Lowcountry Produce

Oddly enough, our first suggestion is more like a market AND a café where you can pick up specialty grocery items beyond fresh produce. But Lowcountry Produce also has a selection of meats, baked goods, gourmet cheeses, and their own line of soups, sauces, pickles, and more. Definitely worth a stop anytime you’re in Hilton Head.

Pick Your Own Fresh Lowcountry Produce

There are three farms currently open to the public where you can pick your own produce.

Dempsey Farms
This family-owned farm is open all year for you and your family to come pick your own berries and veggies. Right now they have strawberries for picking, lettuce for cutting, and a stand where you can purchase squash, zucchini, cucumbers, pickled cucumbers, and blueberries.
Barefoot Farms

This pick-yourself farm is known for its barefoot owner as well as the delicious strawberries you’ll find here. They update their schedule via  Facebook, so keep an eye out so you don’t miss out!
Kerry’s Berries U-Pick

If blueberries are more your taste, you can pick an entire gallon for just $20 here. These little berries taking up a gallon would be a LOT of blueberries! Their current schedule is posted on Instagram, which we’ve linked above!

Hilton Head Farmers’ Markets

There are so many different markets to choose from here on the island, your summer schedule is sure to be full!

Farmers’ Market at Coastal Discovery Museum
Every Tuesday from 9 am until 1, head to the Coastal Discovery Museum for fresh Lowcountry produce, locally sourced meats and seafoods, and baked goods. They always have food trucks on-site, so if you get hungry and the raw veggies aren’t cutting it, you’ll survive.
Farmers’ & Makers’ Market at The Shops at Sea Pines Center

This is another Tuesday event, so you’ll have to plan your day accordingly if you’re only in Hilton Head for a short time. In addition to fresh fruits and vegetables, this market also features goods made by local artisans for you to discover as well.
Farmers’ Market of Bluffton

Every Thursday in May from 12-4 and from 10-2 June through August, you can find fresh produce, plants, prepared foods, and even live entertainment on select dates.

Make a fun day of it for the whole family. Rent some bikes with baskets and stock up on a bountiful harvest!
