If you have searched for any recommendations of things to do or places to visit when you come to Hilton Head Island, it is doubtless someone somewhere told you to make sure to go to Coastal Discovery Museum. Why? Because there is so much there, you can find something for everyone in your party to be excited about! Art lovers, nature enthusiasts, active children, and even history buffs will all come away with an experience that made them happy. Here’s what to look forward to:

Tours

Nature lovers will want to check out at least one tour at the Coastal Discovery Museum. With so much in nature to explore around Hilton Head Island, it’s convenient to have so much of it available for learning about all in one place. Tour Honey Horn to see that nature. Or explore aquatic life, such as dolphins, birds, and a host of others on a water tour. History enthusiasts will even get a chance to investigate battlegrounds from the Civil War.

Exhibits

Suppose you would rather see and study nature indoors. In that case, there are several permanent nature exhibits in the Coastal Discovery Museum to capture your interest and the outdoor gardens and historical building exhibit. However, be on the lookout for temporary exhibitions that can be historical, natural, or art related. And, of course, make sure your kids get some time in the Kid Zone!

Events

Keep up to date with the current happenings at the museum, so you don’t miss any gems. While the Farmer’s Market is a weekly event, you can sometimes catch a Family Fun Day event, the annual plant sale, or the art market. See what will be hosted when you are in town!

You may be tempted to put off the Coastal Discovery Museum for a rainy day – and there’s nothing wrong with that! – but make sure it, and any one of the other museums on Hilton Head, is on your list even if the weather is perfect. It’s a destination you won’t want to miss.
