When school is out, it’s time to think about family vacations. Nothing is worse when you are away from home than hearing exactly what you’re trying to escape—the dreaded words, “I’m bored.” If you do a little planning ahead of time, you could instead be rewarded with an even better sound—the blissful words, “Can we do it again?”
Here are a few activities that may elicit that joy from the offspring:
Go to the Beach
Give a man a fish, and he will eat for day. Give a kid a shovel, and he will play in the sand ALL day. Visit one of the most family-friendly beaches in South Carolina for as much activity as your family desires. Between the sand and the ocean, nature has provided entertainment for your family for days.
Hang Out at the Sandbox
If make-believe is your kids’ thing, this special museum needs to be on your must-visit list. Kids under the age of 6 are the ones who will enjoy it the most. Or, anyone who wants to pretend to be a pilot for the day.
Visit the Butterflies
Older kids might be interested in everything you can find at the free Coastal Discovery Museum. Special attractions include the butterfly exhibit and scavenger hunts. Learning can happen even when they’re not trying!
Get in the Water
Whether it’s fishing or kayaking, water is the name of the game on Hilton Head Island. You never know what else you might find in the water with you. Dolphins hang out here a lot too.
Bike the Trails
Hilton Head Island is home to miles and miles of bike trails. We have bike rentals perfect for the whole family, including kiddie carts for the kids too little for their own bike. There is no better way to explore everything the island has to offer.
Whether these ideas appealed to you or not, you are going to find plenty to do for the whole family on Hilton Head Island. Join us and see!
