You may recall an earlier blog we wrote that focused on some lesser-known extreme sports on Hilton Head, such as shark fishing and kitesurfing. Now we’re back with a few other extreme sports you might want to try and kick off 2021 in a big way!

Water Jetpacking

What it is:

You may have already seen this newest water sensation. Your feet are strapped to a board, then you are propelled in the air by a gush of water from some very long hoses. Fly straight up, or try some tricks while you’re in the air!

Why it’s extreme:

You want to talk about getting some air? Watch it sometime to see how high that stream of water can push you.

Where to try it in Hilton Head:

Parasailing

What it is:

It’s like a parachute that doesn’t fall. You’re seated in a swing, holding the parachute ropes while the boat beneath you cruises along at top speed to keep you in the air.

Why it’s extreme:

You’re flying! And there’s nothing to catch you but the sea below.

Where to try it:

H2O Sports

Jet Skiing

What it is:

If a motorcycle could ride across the water, it would be a jet ski.

Why it’s extreme:

They travel as fast as a car (50-70 mph), with nothing between you and the water but the motoring machine you are driving. Keep your wits about you to make sure you’re driving (flying) in a safe place without crashing.

Where to try it:

Sea Monkeys Water Sports

No matter what sport you’re into (or want to try for the first time), you can find just about any of it here on Hilton Head. What better time to try something new and get your blood pumping than a brand new year?
