As fun as summer can be for every child, there inevitably comes that one point in the season when you hear the dreaded words… “I’m bored.” Even while vacationing for the summer in Hilton Head or living locally and knowing all there is to offer; sometimes kids just require a little more to be entertained. Fortunately, the people of Hilton Head know about this curse and have come up with ways to solve it. Get them outside (or keep them in) for camp-focused. Here are a few to look at:

Day Camp

Let your kids have the full camp experience with swimming, crafts, games, and more by sending them for a week or more of Day Camp here on the island! Each week, kids will experience activities driven by a new theme. Lessons are character-driven, and friends are encouraged. Discounts for multiple children.

Dates: weekly, May 21 – Aug 12

Time: 7:30am – 6pm

Place: Island Rec Center

Ages: Kindergarten – 8th grade

Soccer Camp

Keep your active kids moving! If you’ve got the sporty type, they might love TinyTykes Soccer Camp or Soccer Challenge Camp.

Dates: June 20-24

Time: 8- 8:45 am (Tiny Tykes), 9am-12pm (Challenge)

Place: PALS Buckwalter Soccer Complex, Bluffton

Ages: 2-5 (TinyTykes), 6-14 (Challenge)

Karate Camp

If your child is interested in martial arts, s/he might enjoy Sensei Rick McElroy’s karate training classes that introduce the discipline. Karate is an excellent way for kids and adults to center their energy on a productive outcome.

Dates: June 13-17

Time: 6-9pm

Place: Island Rec Center, Hilton Head

Ages: 5-16

If your child does better with a more accessible schedule, leave a few choices on the table for him. Go for a hike, hit the beach, or ride a bike. The options are as endless as summer in Hilton Head should be.
