Leaving for vacation without your beloved Fifi, Fluffy, or Fido can cause heartache for both you and your pet. It may be difficult to secure care for your pet, and there’s no guarantee they’ll be happy. Let’s face it—if it’s not you, it’s just not good enough for your best friend. Have you considered bringing your pet with you? If they can stand the trip, it might save you a lot of trouble and money to roll down the window and let that tongue fly. Here’s why you’ll both love it.

The Dog Park

Just off the William Hilton Parkway, you’ll find the Chaplin Community Park, a double-gated, fenced-in dog park where your pup can run free. Get to know other dog lovers while your dog gets to make new friends. No leash required here, as long as your pet is not aggressive.

The Beach

Dogs are not allowed on the beach between the hours of 10 am and 5 pm during the regular beach season (Memorial Day through Labor Day). But you’re welcome to bring your pet on a leash outside of those dates and times, as long as you remember to pick up after them.

Accommodations

Hilton Head is very proud to be pet friendly. There are plenty of hotels and vacation rentals that are happy to allow your pet to join you on your vacation. Call ahead to one of the pet-friendly hotels and let them know. Most have a pet fee, which sometimes varies by weight of your pet.

With all the fun you’re having with your pet, don’t forget to stay safe. Check the temperature of the ground before you go out for a walk with them, and never, never leave them alone in a parked vehicle. We can’t wait to see ALL of you on your next trip to Hilton Head Island.
