A vacation in Hilton Head Island consists of things like hanging out on the beach, getting out on the water, hiking, biking, and shopping, of course! But another favorite pastime is horseback riding. Hilton Head has some of the prettiest spots in the country to gaze at, and what better way to do so than on horseback? Here is a list of some of the best places for Hilton Head horseback riding.
Lawton Stables
Lawton Stables in the Sea Pines Forest Preserve has breathtaking views of over 600 acres of Lowcountry, making it a beloved place to saddle up. You can enjoy a one-hour guided Western-Style trail ride, or pony rides are available for the younger crowd. And when you finish your ride, you can head to the small animal farm and feed pigs, alpacas, chickens, goats, and more!
Daufuskie Trail Rides
Though not technically located in Hilton Head, Daufuskie Trails Rides is just across the water by ferry or water taxi. This 5,000-acre community is the southernmost sea island in South Carolina, with historical, wooded trails to embark on and the only spot you’ll find in these parts where horseback riding on the beach is allowed.
Moss Creek Stables
Moss Creek Stables specializes in lessons and horse boarding. So, if you’re a local or staying for a while, this is a great place to hone your equestrian skills. While they don’t offer tours, you can call ahead to make reservations for some riding time if you have a large group or party. All ages are welcome, and don’t forget to ask about the summer camps for kids!
Riding along with a gentle, four-legged friend is a relaxing yet invigorating way to spend the day. So, giddy up for some Hilton Head horseback riding and plan your stay today. See you soon, partner!
“No hour of life is wasted that is spent in the saddle.”- Winston Churchill.
