Have you been around the block? Literally. Have you fallen so in love with the bike trails on Hilton Head Island that you can get enough time outside riding on them? You might be just the person needed to help others who are just getting acquainted with the natural surroundings found on the miles of the island’s bike trails. The island is always looking for a qualified rider to become a Hilton Head Bike Ambassador, so it could be perfect for you if you love to ride!

What a Bike Ambassador Does

Ambassadors are volunteers wearing yellow vests so visitors can identify them and make themselves available to help others on the trail with basic bike maintenance, directions, simple first aid, or as a liaison for local bike shops. They patrol two main routes on the island’s multi-use pathways and routes in Sea Pines and Palmetto Dunes. They carry basic supplies with them and maps and bike shop phone numbers.

How to Become a Hilton Head Bike Ambassador

To become an ambassador for the island, you must complete two hours of training, including safety training, with a group on a provided date. You will also need to spend two hours with an experienced ambassador to get a feel for the job. The training sessions will take place in May 2022 at Fire Station 6 by Palmetto Dunes. Those interested in providing this service for guests, visitors, and locals in need of assistance should email hhibikingambassadors@gmail.com. Our community thanks you in advance for your service!

Once you become a Hilton Head Bike Ambassador, if f you’d prefer to cruise the trails on a rental bike rather than put the miles on your personal one (or if you just like ours better), be sure to make your reservation at Riding Tigers Bike Rentals. Then, get out there and ride!
