Even though summer is winding down and school has started, that doesn’t mean you can’t go to the beach or stop having fun. Whether you’re sunbathing while the kiddos build sandcastles, hitting one of the many bike trails the island has to offer, or letting the waves hit your back while you milk every last bit of fun out of the summer you can, there is still plenty of extreme fun to be had here in Hilton Head. Check out these extreme sports on Hilton Head Island you can enjoy with the whole family.
Parasailing
If you’re not afraid of heights and have ever wanted to see what Hilton Head looks like from hundreds of feet up in the air, might we suggest parasailing? At H2O Sports, you’ll start off with a boat ride out before being lifted into the air by the skilled crew. With flights lasting up to ten minutes, you can see as far away as 25 miles, take pictures, and even catch a glimpse of dolphins swimming below if you’re lucky!
Jet Skis
Maybe you’d rather stay on solid ground instead of parasailing and see the coast from offshore while still experiencing a spike in your adrenaline? Might we suggest renting a jet ski? You can still feel the wind in your hair, but you’ll be riding the waves on your own. Sea Monkeys Watersports has jet skis you can rent for an hour and fifteen minutes, and they seat up to three people!
Tubing
For family-friendly fun on the water with the chance to see birds and dolphins, check out a boating and tubing tour through Lowcountry waters with Outside Hilton Head. Tours for up to twelve people last two and a half hours, while larger groups of up to sixteen last three hours. Be sure to bring snacks, drinking water, sunscreen, and an appetite for adventure!
Zipline
If you’ve had your feel of the ocean for the day but still want some excitement, a zipline canopy tour is right up your alley. At My Adventure Hilton Head, you can get in touch with nature while experiencing the beauty that Hilton Head Island has to offer while (safely) flying through the air on a zipline tour. There are seven different ziplines to choose from, with the highest views of the island (without going parasailing, of course), a swinging sky bridge, a spiral staircase in the trees, and a 900ft long dual racing zipline finale that will take your breath away!
Aerial Adventure
For the more athletic adventure seeker, My Adventure Hilton Head also has Aerial Adventures with high ropes challenge courses boasting four different difficulty levels. For the kiddos, the Green courses are only 12ft off the ground, while the intermediate and challenging Blue courses are 24ft above the ground. The Black and Double Black Diamond courses are a whopping 36ft up in the air for the tough experts. It’s a great physical challenge where you can go at your own pace and even change difficulty levels throughout your adventure as you gain confidence.
