Hilton Head Island has long been known for its beautiful beaches, Lowcountry vibes, and award-winning golf courses. There are also more than 60 miles worth of trails that are perfect for biking or running/walking, so it should come as no surprise that the island hosts a few marathons like no other! Tomorrow, February 10th, The Palmetto Running Co. welcomes everyone for some good vibes and ocean tides at the Island Running Adventure! Can you survive the Hilton Head Marathon?

The Marathons

There are three different marathons you can choose to participate in, depending on your skill and endurance levels. Organizers have guaranteed that the course is USATF certified and a Boston Marathon qualifier. The full and half marathon both start at 8am and the 5k starts at 8:30. Jarvis Park serves as both the start and finish line for the marathons and the course cutoff for the full marathon is six hours. To make sure the island can open all the roads back up to the public, the last runner must pass mile 17.9 by 12:15pm.

Elite Runner Perks

For those that have completed past marathons or half marathons in the past two years with exceptionally low finish times, you’ve already earned a couple of perks before the race even starts! For men who have completed full marathons in 2:27 or half marathons in 1:11 or less and women finishing full marathons in 2:59 or half marathons in 1:25 or less, you get to move to the front of the pack to get a fast start right out of the gate. Additionally, your admission to this year’s race will be fully comped!

The After Party

Once the race is over, the fun begins! Don’t pack up and head home once you’ve crossed the finish line because event coordinators put together an amazing after-party with music, food, drinks, and even a craft beer garden! The best part? All registered runners who are 21 and over get two free beer tickets to enjoy a cold one after their race!

If you think you can survive the Hilton Head Marathon, register today before it’s too late! This could be an amazing opportunity for those who have put running in the Boston Marathon on their bucket list. Participating in one of these events is also a great way to see the best parts of the island as you run with your friends and family through the streets of Hilton Head.
